Global Messengers Class of 2010

Ten athletes from around New Zealand were chosen to participate in the Global Messenger programme in 2010. Special Olympics New Zealand partnered with AUT SHINE Sport Programme to help deliver the programme in 2010.

  • Andrew is an athlete and coach, works full-time and speaks publicly about intellectual disability.
  • Chris wants to get the word out about what Special Olympics can do for athletes and families.
  • Crystal would like more people involved in Special Olympics - especially school children.
  • Dale wants to change people‚Äôs attitudes towards those with intellectual disabilities.
  • Fiona wants to show people how athletes meet great friends, have fun and develop fitness.
  • Graeme would like to show people that athletes with disabilities are just as good as other athletes!
  • Hamish wants to encourage others to achieve the personal growth he has had through Special Olympics.
  • Matt wants to share the experiences and growth he has had achieved as an athlete.
  • Michael wants to show people what can be achieved by being involved with Special Olympics.
  • Rebecca thinks it's tremendous when people see how much effort athletes put into achieving.
