Keri-Anne Johnson

Special Olympics Manawatu bocce player, Keri-Anne Johnson loves training with Special Olympics and can’t wait to meet athletes from other countries around the Asia Pacific region when she plays bocce at the upcoming Games.

Keri-Anne has competed around the country with Special Olympics including representing New Zealand internationally in the athletics track and field team at the Trans Tasman Games in Cairns, October 2012.

Keri-Anne love Special Olympics sport so much that she also competes in tenpin bowling, basketball, swimming, snow sports and golf, attending training most days in either of her specialised sports.

“The best thing about Special Olympics New Zealand is seeing all my friends. I have heaps of them. It’s great fun, training together and competing. I quite like winning. I’m looking forward to the chance to do my best at the Asia Pacific Games competing against people I haven’t met before from other countries,” says Keri-Anne, whose mum Helen is the coach of the aquatics team.

Outside of the pool, Keri-Anne attends Creative Journeys in Palmerston North where she does art and music, and also looks after her niece and nephew.
